Is this calculator accurate?
Our calculations are based on standard construction industry formulas and material coverage rates established by the Gypsum Association and major manufacturers. The sheet calculator uses precise geometry for wall and ceiling areas, subtracts openings, and applies your chosen waste factor. Material estimates (joint compound, screws, tape) follow manufacturer-recommended coverage rates. That said, all results are estimates—actual requirements may vary based on room complexity, installation technique, and material waste. For a detailed explanation, see our methodology section.
Can I use this on my website?
You're welcome to link to Drywall Calculator from your website, blog, or social media. We appreciate the referral! However, embedding our calculator directly into your site (via iframe or copying our code) requires written permission. Please contact us if you're interested in an embedding arrangement.
I found a bug
Thank you for helping us improve! When reporting a bug, please include:
- Browser and version (e.g., Chrome 120, Safari 17, Firefox 121)
- Device type (desktop, tablet, phone) and operating system
- Steps to reproduce the issue—what inputs did you enter, which tab were you using?
- What happened versus what you expected to happen
- Screenshots if the issue is visual (optional but helpful)
The more detail you provide, the faster we can identify and fix the problem.
